In a landmark move to strengthen Pakistan’s digital future, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the distribution of 100,000 laptops to talented students across the country. This initiative, unveiled on International Youth Day in Islamabad, aims to empower young people through technology and merit-based opportunities.

Here’s what you need to know

1. 100% Merit-Based Distribution
PM Shehbaz stressed that only students with proven academic excellence will receive the laptops. No political favoritism — just transparency and performance.

2. Nationwide Coverage
The programme will reach students in all four provinces, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring equal opportunity for young minds from urban centers to remote valleys.

3. Building on Past Success
Chairman of the PM Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Khan, reminded audiences that Shehbaz Sharif first launched a similar initiative in 2011 as Punjab CM, which provided laptops, soft loans, and scholarships to thousands of students.

4. A Boost for Education & Technology
The Prime Minister sees education and technology as the backbone of Pakistan’s future, urging youth to strive for excellence and use these tools to bring pride to the country.

5. Linked with Other Youth Programmes
This effort complements initiatives like the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund, evolved from the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, benefiting students nationwide.
