Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has finally broken his silence on filmmaker AR Murugadoss’s recent comments blaming the actor’s “star attitude” for the box office failure of their high-budget action film “Sikandar.”
The film, which released earlier this year with massive expectations, opened to mixed-to-negative reviews and went on to become one of 2025’s biggest disappointments despite its star-studded cast and big-scale production.
In a recent interview, director AR Murugadoss — best known in Bollywood for remakes like Ghajini, Holiday, and Akira — appeared to suggest that working with a superstar like Salman came with challenges. “It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we had to shoot at night because he turned up only by 8 PM,” Murugadoss claimed while addressing the film’s underperformance.
While Salman Khan initially chose not to respond, the “Tiger 3” actor finally addressed the remarks during the latest weekend episode of his television show “Bigg Boss.”
When comedian Ravi Gupta asked if there were any films he regretted doing, Khan responded firmly, saying, “I have no regrets — not for Suryavanshi, Nishchay, or even Sikandar.”
In his trademark sarcastic style, the superstar added, “Main set pe raat ke 9 baje pahuchta tha, meri pasaliyan tooti thi (I used to reach the set at 9 PM, but my ribs were fractured).”
Taking a subtle jab at the director, he continued, “Hamare director sahab bolte the aisa, lekin unki picture jo abhi release hui hai, uske hero to 6 baje pahuchte the (Our director said that about me, but in his recent movie, his hero showed up at 6 PM).”
Khan was referring to Murugadoss’s latest Tamil film “Madharaasi” starring Sivakarthikeyan, which also faced disappointing box office results last month.
The Bollywood icon further quipped, “Pehle Sajid kalti, phir Murugadoss South sidha (First Sajid Nadiadwala distanced himself, and then Murugadoss went back to the South),” suggesting that several collaborators backed away following Sikandar’s commercial failure.
The film featured an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, and veteran actor Sathyaraj, and was marketed as one of the biggest action releases of the year.
Despite its poor box office run, Salman’s remarks show that he remains unfazed by criticism, continuing to handle controversy with humor and confidence — a hallmark of his decades-long stardom.
