Following the devastating fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza, celebrities across Pakistan voiced their support for the victims and called for accountability, highlighting public outrage over safety negligence.

The blaze, which erupted late Saturday night at one of Karachi’s busiest commercial centres, has claimed at least 26 lives, with more than 80 people reported missing. Rescue teams continued search and relief operations amid fears of further structural collapse, as parts of the multi-storey building had already caved in and pillars of the remaining structure were reportedly deformed by heat.

Among those expressing grief and demanding justice was Hania Aamir, who called the incident “devastating” and urged for accountability to prevent similar tragedies. She wrote, “This wasn’t just an accident. It’s a reminder of how negligence, ignored safety, and silence cost real people their futures.”

Aiman Khan shared her condolences, sending prayers to the victims and their families, while Zhalay Sarhadi highlighted the need for patience during such challenging times.

Minal Khan reflected on Karachi’s governance and safety issues, describing the city as “loved in words but abandoned in action.” She called Gul Plaza more than a building, emphasizing its significance in the memories of Karachites and condemning the negligence that allowed such a tragedy.

Social media influencer Jannat Mirza highlighted the lack of safety measures, noting reports of only a single fire extinguisher in a building bustling with businesses and people.

Mahira Khan shared her anguish as well, saying, “Heartbreaking. The more I watch videos coming out of this tragic incident, the angrier and more helpless I feel. Is this an accident or just plain indifference?” She offered prayers for the bereaved families and questioned the safety standards of public spaces.

The collective response from celebrities amplified public demands for stricter safety regulations and accountability, underlining the urgent need to prevent such disasters in the future.
