Reality star says she believes the 1969 Apollo 11 mission was ‘fake’
Reality TV mogul Kim Kardashian has stirred controversy once again — this time by claiming she doesn’t believe the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing ever happened.
In the latest episode of The Kardashians (aired October 30), the 45-year-old socialite discussed the famous NASA mission with her All’s Fair co-star Sarah Paulson, insisting that astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin never actually set foot on the moon.
Kim challenges the Apollo 11 story
During a behind-the-scenes moment on set, Kim is seen telling Sarah:
“I’m sending you, so far, a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and… the other one.”
Sarah responded playfully, “Yes, do it.”
Kim continued, referencing an alleged quote from Aldrin:
“This girl says, ‘What was the scariest moment?’ And [Aldrin] goes, ‘There was no scary moment, cause it didn’t happen. It could’ve been scary, but it wasn’t, cause it didn’t happen.’”
She then added that the astronaut’s age may be why “he blurts out the truth,” concluding confidently, “So I think it didn’t happen.”
Producers confront Kim about her theory
Later in the episode, a producer approached Kim in her trailer to confirm her stance.
Without hesitation, she said:
“I don’t think we did. I think it was fake.”
Kim then doubled down, claiming she had seen “videos of Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen” and that he “says it all the time now in interviews.”
Kim’s reasons for disbelief
Explaining her conviction, Kim listed what she called “inconsistencies” in NASA’s footage:
“There’s no gravity on the moon — why is the flag blowing?” she asked.
“The shoes they have in the museum don’t match the footprints in the photos. And why are there no stars?”
When asked how she responds to critics who call her “crazy,” the SKIMS founder brushed it off:
“They’re gonna say I’m crazy no matter what. But like, go to TikTok. See for yourself.”
Social media reacts
Following the episode, Kim’s comments quickly went viral, sparking debates across X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Reddit. While some fans found her remarks entertaining, others criticized her for spreading misinformation about a pivotal historical event.
Buzz Aldrin, who was part of the Apollo 11 crew alongside Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, has previously addressed similar conspiracy theories, calling them “nonsense.” NASA has also debunked claims of a staged moon landing, providing decades of evidence and documentation.
Nonetheless, Kim’s latest statement has once again positioned her at the center of pop culture buzz — blurring the line between celebrity influence and conspiracy fascination.
