Hollywood megastar and former WWE champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has finally revealed the reason behind his noticeably slimmer physique. Speaking at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Johnson explained that his transformation is linked to his next big project. He is collaborating with director Benny Safdie on a film adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater’s novel Lizard Music.
In this upcoming role, Johnson will portray a whimsical and eccentric 70-something-year-old man, humorously named the “Chicken Man,” whose best friend happens to be a chicken. The role requires him to shed weight and move away from his usual heavily muscled build.

Earlier this year, Johnson bulked up extensively to play former MMA fighter and UFC heavyweight champion Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. Now, the actor is reversing course. Joking about his diet, Johnson quipped that he is eating “less chicken” as part of his new fitness regime.
“This is me slimmed down,” he said. “I’m still in the process, and I have a long way to go. But I’m excited to transform again, just like I did in The Smashing Machine.”
