Pakistani actor Arslan Butt has publicly addressed the controversy involving actress Mamya Shajaffar’s harassment allegations, strongly denying the claims and sharing how the situation has affected him personally and professionally.
Speaking during an interview on a podcast hosted by Fareeha, Arslan Butt discussed the emotional challenges he faced after the allegations became public. The actor said that while the controversy caused him significant distress, he refused to allow online criticism or public pressure to affect his confidence or mental strength.
During the conversation, the host highlighted how intense online bullying and public criticism can sometimes have serious consequences for individuals. Responding to the discussion, Arslan said he is not someone who would let such circumstances break him, but acknowledged that the allegations were deeply painful.
The actor explained that he has spent years building his career and reputation in Pakistan and internationally. According to Arslan, his professional journey has been built on hard work, and the accusations had the potential to damage the image and credibility he had developed over many years.
When asked how he remained calm during the controversy, Arslan said his approach was based on patience. He emphasized that instead of reacting emotionally or engaging in arguments on social media, he decided to follow a legal path because he believes courts are the appropriate platform for resolving such matters.
The controversy began when Mamya Shajaffar discussed her experience during an appearance on Iffat Omar’s online talk show. She alleged that an actor named “Arsalan” behaved inappropriately and threatened her while they were working together on the drama Meesni.
Following her comments, many viewers initially assumed she was referring to actor Arslan Khan. However, Mamya later clarified that he was not the person involved. The discussion eventually led to reports identifying the actor as Arslan Butt.
Arslan Butt rejected the allegations and described them as false. He claimed that the accusations were damaging to his reputation and later sent a legal notice to Mamya Shajaffar over defamation concerns.
In response, Mamya Shajaffar issued a legal counter-notice seeking damages of Rs1 billion, further intensifying the public discussion surrounding the matter. Both sides have maintained their respective positions, while the legal process continues.
Speaking about the broader impact of such allegations, Arslan said accusations involving a person’s character should be treated seriously because they can have lasting effects on careers, professional relationships, and public reputation.
The controversy has sparked wider conversations on social media about harassment allegations, legal procedures, online reactions, and the challenges faced by public figures when disputes become public.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Arslan Butt said he remains confident that the legal system will determine the facts. He maintained that patience and reliance on proper legal procedures are the best ways to handle such situations.
